Stands Out Above the Rest

Okay, I'll grant that Myers may paint too rosy a picture about what repairs will cost and what the IRS says about taxes. However, in my opinion, it is the most helpful and practical guide I've read about picking up fixer-uppers, rehabbing them, and then selling them for profit. For anyone with some extra money in this bottomed-out economy, now could be the perfect time to pick up this book, study it thoroughly, then begin an all-out search for the lowest priced fixer uppers on the market with potential. After rehabbing, you could sell them cheap and still make a profit. I highly recommend this book. I only wish I had the money to do what I just suggested. Good luck.

Excellent Guide

This book is comprehensive and detailed in its information on how to flip homes. It includes worksheets that you can use to evaluate properties and identify your purchase price & potential profit. I highly recommend it for first timers and old hands.

Introduction to a special niche of real estate investing

Readers of real estate books might get confused about all the different methods that they can use to invest real estate. Each author tries to convince them that his or her method is the best. What I like about this book is that the author makes you aware that the world of real estate investing is vast and intricate, and there are many ways for small investors to participate. This book only talks about one niche of real estate investing - buying, fixing, and selling "handyman-special" properties for profit. This is not a get-rich-quick method because it requires hard work and dedication. If you are looking for a book on buy-and-hold strategy, this book is not for you. I would recommend Buy & Hold by David Schumacher.

A huge benefit of this strategy is speed because you simply buy a property, fix it up, and sell it for profit, which you can reinvest in another property. This is a perfect strategy for those who are starting out and don't have a lot of cash. Once you build wealth, then holding properties for long periods of time might make more sense because then you will probably be interested in the cash flow that these properties can generate.
