Pretty good futuristic/time-travel/historical read!
Rejar (the second book in the Timeswept series) by Dara Joy could be classified in several genres: futuristic (sci fi), time-travel, and historical. Overall, it was a pretty good read! I enjoyed Mine to Take more (the third book in the Timeswept series), but I've have yet to read Knight of a Trillion Stars (the first book in the series). It might be better if you read them in order so that you have a better understanding of the secondary characters and the futuristic elements of the story.
Rejar is a Familiar, who can change forms into that of a cat. He is from another world, and he ends up traveling through a space tunnel continuum back in time and lands (in his cat form) at the feet of Miss Lilac Devere in Regency England times. He doesn't realize for some time that he has been taken through space and time directly to his true mate, Lily. Lily takes Rejar (in his cat form) home with her.
Rejar is taken with Lily, and so he decides while he is in her time, he will try to make Lily his. Lily is a very head-strong and independent woman who, when she finally meets Rejar in his human form, wants nothing to do with him. Rejar is falling hard for Lily, and things happen, and they have to marry. But Rejar doesn't know how to tell Lily who and what he really is without scaring her away from him. And when he tries to tell her, she doesn't accept it and tells Rejar to quit using sorcery and black magic. When he does figure out that she is his mate, it becomes even more important to him that Lily accept him for his true self, even if it costs him his life.
Rejar is definitely a must read in my opinion. There are some very tender moments, humorous moments, and steamy, steamy moments. There is one scene that might be classified as being a forced seduction scene that some others, by my reading of other reviews on this item, did not particularly like. Truthfully, I've read worse forced seduction scenes, and I didn't feel like this one was all that questionable. 4 1/2 stars!
Escape to ree gen cee ing land
I enjoyed the continuing adventures of the Krue sons. I didn't find Rejar's mate Lilac as likeable as I hoped but I still very much enjoyed the story and am now reading Mine to Take the third in the series. A nice escape from reality.
Most lovable heroes
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE a hero that can be secure enough in himself to love a heroine. Joy's main characters a total *no pun intended JOY. There's something so sweet about sweet tempered Rejar. I disliked the heroine a little, she seemed to be a little to spiteful. I loved the cat idea, it was really cute.
