How do I rate what?
Item was satisfactory, not exceptional by any means, but I was poised to call, email or whatever to find out where it was!
I ordered 2 items from 2 different sellers at the same time. The other item arrived in 3 to 4 days. This seller took 3 to 4 weeks, maybe more! So if I'm reviewing the dealer, it's not a good review!
Classic Millinery Techniques: A complete Guide to Making & Designing today's hats
This is a standard book used to learn the art of millinery. The instructions are clear, however, a basic millinery class is recommended for the novice who would be unfamiliar with the types of materials needed to make a hat. This book is better suited for someone who has a strong interest in learning classic millinery techniques.
The book is the best in the field but it gets four stars. Mainly because there are quicker and faster techniques to get the hat made. Some of the illustrations are confusing even for an experienced milliner. Artificial fabrics such as polyester are definitely not to be used for hat making and this needs to be stated strongly. The list of vendors for supplies is extremely outdated. Most of those suppliers no longer exist in NYC. Some of the supplies listed are no longer manufactured. Nice Advice
If you are interested in learning how to make hats this book will give you a hand. As with anything you will need to look around for all kinds of information, make your own mistakes to gain experience, learn and invent some tricks, break the rules once you know them but this book will serve as your guide on this exciting and challenging hat-trip. Have fun and hat up into the air for this book.
IOW I am not sure if any book can claim to be complete but this one will certainly be a useful map and reference, methinks.
