Love vegetarian food but wanna eat great meals that won't make anyone at the table miss meat? This delivers!

I will "own" that I am a cookbook addict. I dig into a new book and if it seems interesting, will buy it. Because of this, I frequently give away any cookbooks that aren't 5 star winners. I've had Clair's Corner Copia for about 10 years now I think...it is so filled with recipes that are homestyle and just happen to be vegetarian (rather than vegetarian recipes full of odd ingredients) that it's been a go-to favorite of mine for years.

These recipes are truly homestyle...if you are a vegetarian that loves great meals, or are a vegetarian that shares the table with people who turn up their nose at "vegetarian food" you'll be pleased.

think Fall and Winter Vegetable Soup, Mushroom Stroganoff,Mexican Pasta Salad, enchiladas, chocolate cake, mixed vegetable burritos, baked pasta with florentine sauce, corn fritters, zucchini casserole, deep dish gourmet pizza...

and the recipes pull through...I love to cook so often I write notes in my cookbooks as to what I needed to add to make it work well. This cookbook stays clean...they come out right the first time.

Most definitely a keeper we'll continue to enjoy for ages...

It'll make you wish you could go to Claire's

I frequent New Haven for business at Yale, and Claire's is my favorite eatery. Even my non-veggie friends love it. The cookbook has a wide variety of dishes, the Angel Hair Pasta Salad being a family favorite. The Lithuanian Coffee Cake is also good, but doesn't measure up to the original at Claire's. If you are vegetarian or love good food, you'll love this cookbook.

bread, soup, and cake

When I lived in New Haven, my favorite lunchtime place was Claire's Corner Copia. My favorite lunch was soup, a mini loaf of bread and carrot cake with butter cream frosting. The frosting was so popular, it was kept in a bucket, and the staff would scoop out a giant portion and slather it on the cake. I'm so glad I can make it from this cookbook now that I'm on the west coast and can't make my weekly trek to Claire's. And the soup! I never had a bad one--they were all great, and they're here, too. Get this book and also Claire's Italian Feast. If you can't get to the restaurant, these recipes are the next best thing.
