Review #1

I'm drinking the Pavel Kool Aid!

I have read Enter the Kettlebell, and loved it. Power to the People is written in the written in the same style. It is easy to read, has good pictures to teach the exercises, and a cogent plan to get it done. I love Pavel, and his exercise plans work.

good advice in a crappy book format

Another 'my way is the best/only way' book. contains good advice, particularly that less is often best when training for results. worth reading if you want to build pyhsical strength, but it's a pity the author rushed out this title as it's full of spelling mistakes and the layout is poor. The book I received from Amazon was a 1990s print. it's also heavily padded - his often good advice, given in an irreverent and often humerous style, could have been condensed into far less pages. also, many of the pages are promoting his other books, all of which are a variation on pretty much the same theme and really could have made a single volume. The author obviously see's himself not just as a 'Master of Strength', as he claims, but also as a master marketeer because he is shamlessly using one title to sell others. The book also leaves many questions unanswered. a simple Frequent Q & A section at the back would have been useful but instead the back pages are all given over to selling his other titles. Also, his bio (fitness instructor to Soviet special forces - but without any other details) is VERY vague and gave the impression his background is in reality far less impressive than he wants us to think. I believe the author has a message worth sharing, and he personally has great flexibility and physique - but he clearly rushed this book to make money quick. The comrade has been corrupted by the capitalist western imperialists.

Life changing

This book changed my life. I bought it 10 months ago. When I bought the book I was on body building routines. I was pulling muscles in martial arts class and I was not makeing satisfactory progress. I was able to do 5 dead lifts with 210 pounds. Now I know everything I was doing wrong. Now I can do 5 dead lifts with 320 pounds after 10 months and I had form troubles. Every 3 weeks that I spend on a dead lifting cycle from this book sends my dead lift up 10 pounds. My muscles get no bigger. They only get harder and more defined. You should see the look one some big guys faces when they find out how there strength compares to a skinny 175 pounder and i am just a beginner on this stuff. I have bought several of the authors books and find that anything this man writes is weightlifting kettle bell swinging gold. I expect to be deadlifting 400 pounds 5 times by the end of next january ( it is now june) and I expect to be deadlifting 500 pounds at a body weight of 175 by the end of next year. And that's only spending every other 3 weeks on it. I am in a kind of shape I NEVER WOULD HAVE ACHIEVED. Thank you to the author. But this mans book. It can make you a skinny bullet proof iron rail or a bulky bronze beast. your choice
